A UK sponsor licence allows an eligible business or organisation to sponsor overseas workers on approved immigration routes. UK Visas and Immigration assesses whether the organisation is genuine, operating lawfully and able to meet its ongoing sponsorship duties.
Sponsoring a worker does not guarantee that the worker will receive a visa. The organisation must qualify for the correct licence and each proposed role and worker must separately meet the relevant immigration requirements.
Who may need a sponsor licence?
An organisation will usually need a licence if it wants to employ someone who does not already have unrestricted permission to work in the UK. The licence type depends on the immigration route and the work the organisation intends to sponsor.
